I love the image of sunlit Mary in the tree, and John telling the family stories. And oh, John, at the Thanksgiving dinner. Trying so hard, messing up so hard.
I love the backstory you gave John & Mary endlessly. She has so much personality. Not that she didn't in canon, of course, but seeing her at these points of her life makes her feel so much realer.
And the way you had him tell a story about hunters without realizing that's what it was, and having Mary understand it better than he ever could. Masterfully done.
Thank you so much! One thing that was a lot of fun about this was fleshing out their history, and playing with all that stuff that John wouldn't know. I'm also glad you enjoyed Missouri - she was so much fun to write.
