rest en paz

On February 14th, 2009 Marian Arias Cywinski(nee Arias Lopez) passed away leaving behind her husband(Edward), three children(Gary, Richard, Wendy), 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. She was predeceased by her daughter(Linda Cook) and two grandchildren.

Marian was born in Madrid, Spain and with her father moved to Puerto Rico at the age of 6. She was the founder of the Adirondack school in Broomall, PA. During World War 2 she worked several wartime jobs in New York City . It was at this time in history that she met my grandfather, a young officer that due to his poor eyesight was in the states and taught other soldiers to fly. When I was little I stayed with Mimi while my parents worked and I'd draw, listen to her teach Spanish a little. One time when I was 2 I accidentally pulled down their christmas tree and Mimi pushed me out of the way and it fell on her. She was alright, but still. She saved my little two year old butt. Consolation: perhaps she is finally getting to meet her mom. And she will get to see her dad and her brothers, her daughter and two grandchildren.

Resto en paz, Mimi. Te recordaremos.
