I'm going CRAZY. The wedding is finally on June 14th, 2008. And we already have like 400 on our guest list....that's just my side alone. So there needs to be some serious list slashing. Cause Shadowbrook only allows 300, but you also have to have a min of 150. and now I'm thinking jesus, what if i pay for this and no one can come?... well i won't ( Read more... )

how exciting! my good friend sara is planning on getting married in june 2008, too.
one of the worst things is trying to figure out the guest list.. it seriously sucks. his family just kept adding and adding people.. and we can only have a max of 150.
and yeah.. supposedly a 'typical' wedding is like $20,000. we just went to my cousin's two weekends ago and it had to be at least that much.. it was gorgeous. i've been as frugal as possible; at this rate we should definitely be under $10,000.. probably around $8000 or $8500. yay!
well, good luck and let me know if you need anything!

did you ever figure out if you'll be in florida during our wedding? you're welcome to come.. let me know!

CRAP, i totally spazzed on writing you back. I won't be in flordia but wendalls actually going to be a best man that weekend, so I wouldn't have been able to anyways. Which sucks cause I'd rather drive down than go to this affair. I very much dislike the couple.
Go you on that budget though! I talked to my parents today and told them while it's wonderful that they want to spend this kind of money I'd rather have a smaller wedding with people I know than a huge one just so I can get a lot of presents.

Never in a zillion years did I expect you to be the first one to plan a wedding!I'm so excited for you!!!! <3 You're crazy and fabulous in all that you do so I can't imagine a budget coinciding with your visions. Ummmmmm yeah, and about your bachelorette party...

P.S.: Would it be possible for you to have kids soon because I reaaaaaally want to be an aunt?

P.S. times 2: I haven't seen you in quite a while!

ABout the kids, you're going to have to wait on that. I'll be a month shy of turning 21 when the wedding happens. and I KNOW! We should go to lunch soon! That's what adults do!

Both my cousins got married recently and managed to spend around $5,000. It really depends on who you know. Like the reception = stand around or have like fold out tables and chairs decorated pretty while eating finger sandwiches, punch, and or dessert type things that maybe a good relative volunteered to cater for you. That saves you on that alone as opposed to the fancy sit down dinners.

The main way to save money is to figure out what friends and coworkers can do and are willing to do to help you.

Looove! Woot! Miss you
