I am so tired of backpackers... They are the scum of the earth. Tidy something and 5 seconds later they'll dirty it, fix something and 5 seconds later they'll break it... Close the bar and 5 seconds later they'll want a drink, refuse them and they'll bitch and moan for hours... Then they don't have any money for anything and try to get everything on the cheap because, despite the fact that most of them are richer than me, they'll spend hundreds a night on booze.... Then they'll come back here and make a scene...
Also, working nights has become not only tiresome, not only lonely, but also a risk to my health.... My immune system ceases to exist after working 6 nights in a row on very little sleep, out in the cold for long stretches... I miss sleeping with the one I love, and I miss getting to actually sleep...
On the other hand, I recieve pretty darn good pay, spend hours on the internet researching my pet projects, my bosses are usually friendly and understanding, I get whichever days off I need, my co-workers are generally more friendly and less annoying than the average, something interesting usually happens, and I get to meet a few interesting people....
However, none of this is really enough to make me want to continue, purely because of the other points already made...
On the 1st of August, I will be leaving this country with my lady friend, it is our intention to live in London for a relatively extended period of time, hopefully being able to travel some of the European Union during that time. Amsterdam is a must, Oktoberfest is looking likely, Paris is a short trip away, Edinburgh is not only the home of the fringe festival, but also of Dylan Moran, Milan would be interesting, as would Madrid and and Berlin. I would love to see St Petersburg and Moscow, and it would be amazing to ride the trans siberian railway to Beijing...
Of course, you can never guarantee these little sojourns, but almost certainly we'll be going to the first four on the list. I would love to look into university over there, maybe setting up shop in the old motherland, at least for a while...
Anyway, long story short, there will be a leaving party sometime in late July, which I hope people will come to...
