The new night manager
My new job is night manager of a backpackers hostel in northbridge. Ha! The most awesome job title in the world!! (save maybe a few)... I am, in fact at work right now... It's my first night shift on my own, but I worked last night and the night before also. Ive barely slept a wink in almost 3 days now, I live off of soft drinks, coffee and cigarettes. The job itself is awesome, as evidenced by the fact that it's 3am, and I've basically finished everything that needs doing, cleaned kitchen, cleaned outside, printed reports, closed and cashed up bar, kicked drunken backpackers up the stairs to bed, etc etc. Now, all but 2 residents are tucked into bed, and theyre just fucking around on the internet, so, all I have to do for the next 2 hours is chill out, and take cigarette breaks... Then, I open up the kitchen, have some toast, fold some laundry, and thats about it.... At least, I hope it is, first night alone jitters, wondering if everything im supposed to do is, in fact done, or I'm forgetting something terribly important....
Pretty sure Im all set though, either way.... The only downside is the hours, which is basically what makes the job so awesome too. You seeee, on the one hand, if I worked days, there'd be tonnes more stuff to do, I'd be under supervision, and I wouldn't get the cool job title (Plus, less money) But, on the other, my sleep pattern is severely disturbed, and I don't get to spend nearly so much time with Ash... (due to attempts to sleep during the day etc....) And I do miss waking up next to her...
Anyway, in other news... We've (Ash and I) been looking at apartments and small houses to move into, mainly around north perth, west perth, leederville-y area... SO we're both closer to work and all... Found the worlds most awesome-est bedsit on Malcolm street in the city, but didn't get it... Found an awesome one bedroom house in north perth, near the old kadina household, but we didn't get it... Probably as I haven't had a steady job til lately (I was a brick pavers labourer for a while, don't you know), and Ash has been unemployed... Of course, she has a job now, as a body piercer in the city, and so, going by just our job titles, we are probably now the coolest couple on Earth....
Been working for Stargate a bit, for the next production in July, and I landed a role in an awful movie I didn't want to be in... I did everything possible not to be in it, I purposefully refused to audition, but got put in a circumstance where I had to, so I just did a terrible job of it.... Anyway, long story short, I have a small role as an Irishman in a bad B grade power rangers movie, based on, and made by the same people as, a popular South African television series named Strongmen..... (Believe it or not, it has a million dollar budget, and, on the bright side, I think I'm getting paid for my time...)
I'm also going to be the host of the next production, so on the 9th and 10th of July, I'll be dressing wackily to act as a 19th century carnival ringleader onstage...
