Yesterday evening just before office shut down time I noticed that Sachin had got his century and was still batting. There a bunch of overs left, and Dhoni had joined him at the crease. Score must have just crossed 340 I think. I leisurely drove home and found they were still batting when I reached. Sachin was on 197 I think and we waited with bated breath for the 200 and new world record to be set. Not until Dhoni hit what cricket commentators call 'lusty' blows sending balls for 4s and 6s. Last over ball one Dhoni sends it for a six, and there are groans from the crowd [imagine for a 6 from Dhoni], ball 2 he takes a single and Tendulkar is on strike, he takes a single and blam his 200. With the other three balls they take the team score to 401 and their partnership to 100.
There after the SA innings was purely academic in nature:-)
The dim bulbs at the Udayavani local Kannada paper had the Railway budget spread all over the top half of the paper. As if the Railways had made a train that would fly. Tendulkar's 200 was on the bottom half's left quarter. Thankfully I suppose! The English papers had him right on top right next to the railway budget.
