Hope (
lyrics+
listen)
It was the sixth day in a row that Yoochun cried. The overwhelming stress finally getting him and causing him to break.
"Sometimes, crybaby-hyung," Changmin whispers into Yoochun's ear as he wraps his arms around him. "Sometimes you have to let go of the past and look to the future. You gotta have hope!"
Hope. Hope. What was that? "...you sound like me." And Yoochun racks his brain trying to think of where he heard that before.
"I think I heard it in a song once, hyung." Yoochun sees the uneven eyes and hears the deep laughter. "It wasn't yours."
Faces (
lyrics+
listen)
Yoochun can't remember the last time that he was himself. Caught between who he is meant to be and who he strives to be, he's forgotten the essence of him. What he needs is a break, a vacation, time alone.
But even when that vacation finally comes, he isn't alone. He can't be alone, no matter how hard he tries.
Maybe he hasn't really changed for the worse, Yoochun decides over a glass of new wine. (As per suggestion of the elderly man who all but shoved the bottle in Yoochun's empty arms.) It's good. Fruity. Yoochun smiles to himself, noting that he'll have to let Jaejoong try a glass.
Sway Your Head (
lyrics+
listen)
It isn't often when Yoochun finds himself a sobbing heap on the floor of his apartment. Well, it is commonplace, but not with having Yunho being the one trying to console... and failing.
Yoochun feels a bit better knowing even the most perfect of people are flawed.
"Yoochunah," Yunho lets out a heavy sigh and slings an arm around Yoochun's shoulder. "I'm sorry. But, pull yourself together. I can buy you a new one."
"Hyung... I think it's a lost cause," Changmin says as he sets the broken shaver on the table.
Perfect Time (
lyrics+
listen)
Sometimes, Yoochun catches himself thinking about moments, snippets of time that aren't quite memories (or at least ones that he wants to remember) because more often than not, words were never said.
If he had said something earlier, later, never at all. Yoochun catches himself thinking at the worst possible moments and regrets. He rarely regrets, but he wishes that he had the courage to actually say his feelings instead of writing them into songs.
Most of all, Yoochun wishes that he could write the lyrics he wants to say instead of writing what he thinks everyone else wants to hear.
Julie (
lyrics+
listen)
Yoochun wants to capture life with his music. He thinks Junsu does it with his voice, Yunho with his dancing, Jaejoong with his beauty, and Changmin with... himself. When he realizes this, he realizes that he's in love. In love with something (someone) he thinks he can't have.
All he needs is a chance, but it's one he's afraid to take. No one should have to settle, especially when settling means him.
Water's edge (
lyrics+
listen)
Sometimes Yoochun's insecurities get the best of him and he's left feeling paranoid and out of control. Conversations halt when he enters the room, paranoia rising at an increasingly high rate.
Yoochun doesn't realize that his birthday is slowly approaching and he would have forgotten if Changmin hadn't stopped him in the hallway asking, "Hyung, what do you want for your birthday?" Yoochun's first thought is you, but mentions the first album that comes to mind instead.
In the end, Yoochun gets both and he's happy. Breathless and exhausted, but happy.
LTFP (
lyrics+
listen)
Fights over the most mundane of things happened often as they spent more and more time together. They all were the mediator at some point, even Yoochun. He felt he was the most temperamental of the group, the easiest one reduced to tears, to anger, to any emotion, really.
His apologies are normally wordless, a bit out of place for him. Small trinkets, a photograph, a mix CD. They always work better than words as time and time again arguments are forgotten and normalcy returns (whatever that means).
In the Blue (
lyrics+
listen)
"You're one of a kind, crybaby-hyung," Changmin tells Yoochun while Changmin's laughing and Yoochun is crying. "They don't make 'em like you anymore."
Yoochun has felt lost for such a long time, wading through time and places and people. But now that he's finally stopped waiting and wishing, he feels at home. The world that normally was tinted a melancholy shade of blue looks a bit brighter.
On Your Way (
lyrics+
listen)
People ask Yoochun who his best friend is and he tells them that he has four of them. It's the typical sap answer, and he always delivers it with his eyes brimming with tears. For dramatic effect, of course. And most certainly not because he feels like one of the luckiest guys in the world because of it.
They all have a piece of his heart and he wouldn't have it any other way.
Upon Waking She Found Herself A Cougar (
lyrics+
listen)
Like every normal human being, Yoochun stumbles (both literally and figuratively). Before all of this, the fans, the music, the mass hysteria, Yoochun would pick himself up. He would open his own doors and put himself in charge of his own destiny.
Things are different now. Everyone wants to lend him a hand to stand. Everyone wants to open his doors.
Yoochun can't help but miss when his efforts actually meant something.
Please Shine (
lyrics+
listen)
Yoochun's confidence slowly builds as the years go on and by the time they're getting to release their eighth album, he feels like a pimp. Not in the sense where he feels he needs a harem of sorts, but more like a star. They aren't idols, they're too old for that. They aren't idols, they have talent.
He's late to the studio one day and as he sees the rest of the group staring down at him from the balcony above, amidst their catcalling and pleas for him to hurry, Yoochun realizes that they've finally done it. (But he can't decide if he's happy or sad. If this is their peak, is it only downhill from here?)
Glass Windows (
lyrics+
listen) and Welcome Home (
lyrics+
listen)
The traffic whizzes past as he tries to make his way back to his apartment. Yoochun has yet to call it home because it's empty and just him, save for the moments when his friends decide to visit. It's clean, but not unbearably spotless. He'd love to make it home, but home means more than materialistic bullshit.
The door is unlocked and Yoochun swears that he didn't leave it that way when he left that morning. There's a suitcase on the floor and Changmin's sitting next to it.
"I own a couch."
"I know," Changmin says as he stands. "And I know something you don't."
"I love you," more than you know. Yoochun thinks what he's just blurted out is a lame phrase, one that's overused, but his brain can't continue the thought as he doesn't hear a reply, but feels one instead. Lips crashing against his and he feels his doorknob dig into his back.
"Welcome home, hyung."
