It was unexpected. After all, both Yunho and Jaejoong were both older than Yoochun, so when he was called to the military first, there was a sense of shock and acceptance. So, he went through the steps, choosing the most appropriate day (also known as stalling, in hopes that he wouldn't have to go completely alone). The farewell gathering was full of laughter and tears, but before they all went their separate ways, Yoochun gave each of them a small card. Inside each was a small note that read, "I've made you something and put it in a place where I think you go often. - Yoochun". Notorious for his love of music, it was easy for the other four to assume what he had done.

It was just a matter of finding them.

Jaejoong was the first to find his CD. Taped inside one of the cabinets in the kitchen, he recognized Yoochun's hasty writing of his name and rushed to put in the CD. Two tracks. The first was a song he didn't know and was relieved to see that Yoochun (who always made sure to make things easy) had put a loose translation of the song.

Stunned into silence, Jaejoong sat on the floor in front of the stereo, unaware of the man standing in the hallway who had, also, heard the entire song. Once it faded, Jaejoong was expecting to hear another song, but heard a familiar voice instead.

"Jaejoong," Yoochun's voice coming through the speakers was quiet and raspy. He had obviously been crying. "Promise me you'll write. I'm sure you already have, but promise me again. Do you think they'll let you visit?" A pause. "That sounded desperate." He laughed and Jaejoong was still too stunned to go back to see if he held back a sob. "I don't know- I'm not sure- Ah..." The voice trailed off and Jaejoong scooted closer to the speakers, hoping for it to continue. "Hyung, make sure he keeps you happy. I'll know if he doesn't. I've hired spies."

Next, in a frantic rage, was Yunho. Two days later, he found his taped inside the bathroom cabinet behind his shaving cream. Locking the door, Yunho put the CD into the bathroom radio and kept the volume low, just in case. Two tracks. The first song sounded incredibly familiar and Yunho caught himself humming along with the song as it continued to play. He was surprised, in a way; expecting something a bit more sentimental and tear worthy. But that wasn't them and Yunho knew that. Fumbling open the note, Yunho stuck it behind the shower radio. 'Laughter is good for the soul. You taught me that.'

"Yunho, take care of him for me. You already have been, but if you stop, I'll kick your ass." Laughter filled the bathroom and Yunho couldn't stop himself from laughing along with the recording. "Keep the others company too. Please. Keep eating Jaejoong's cooking. Hug Junsu when he least expects it. Make sure Changmin reorganizes his DVDs. What else?" A pause and a distant laugh. "Cut your hair, cockatiel."

He laughed.

Third, almost purely by accident was Junsu. The CD would have gone completely undetected if it hadn't been for Changmin pointing it out to him before wandering out of the room. "Changminah, are you sure you don't- Oh." After closing the door, Junsu sat in front of the TV and quietly hit play. Two tracks. Opening the note, his eyes kept reading over the lyrics. No one had mentioned their songs, but there was a small part of him that was wanting something more intimate.

"Don't worry, Junsu. It'll go by fast and we'll all be together again." A pause. "Keep an eye on Jaejoong for me. Make sure Yunho doesn't do anything stupid. Keep Changmin company, he'll need it." A long pause and Junsu moved to turn off the CD. "...Don't laugh because you feel you have to."

He cried.

~~~
Last, as he expected, was Changmin, who only found his during his annual DVD sorting. After he put the right DVD in the case, he made his way to his computer and slid the CD inside. Two tracks. Turning up the volume on his speakers, he flopped on his bed to listen...
...only to start laughing when the song began. "Are you shitting me," he asked to no one but himself and opened the first note. No lyrics, just three words.
Changmin had been the strong one for the first three weeks of Yoochun's leave. Even Yunho had expressed worry and allowed a few tears to be shed. But as he kept rereading the short note, he could feel the hot tears streaming down his cheeks.
'I love you.' Changmin could swear that he could hear Yoochun saying the words and it took him a few moments before he realized that the second track was the man repeating them over and over and over again.
