General energy low, creative energies full force!

I've been rather unwell the past few months and at one point had to go live with my mother for a while because I kept falling over and hurting myself.  This meant I was spending lots of time sitting down feeling bored and missing being able to stand at my easel and paint... so I dug out the crochet hooks and knitting needles and have been having a wonderfully creative time during my convalescence

I am now superglued to a site called Ravelry and have discovered the Harry Potter Knit/Crochet House Cup.  In September I was sorted into Slytherin (woohoo!) and have been existing largely in a make believe Hogwarts where I make real life crafts.  Each month we are given class tasks to fulfil connected with Herbology, Potions, Defence Against the Dark Arts etc.  There's even a Quidditch cup going on.

I've made lots of "normal" items, but managed to get a lot of Potter related stuff done too.

A Snape Crochet which I intend to eventually sew to a load of other Slytherin of Potter images to make a blanket:

A Slytherin reticule of my own design:

A Slytherin Garter:

A Beauxbatons cloth of my own design which was sent to my Harry Potter Crafts swap partner along with a stash of other items:

Slytherin Slippers:

I even managed to get some Halloween decorations done:

I'm now trying to make up several items for Christmas gifts and wondering how I'll manage without inspirational class prompts once term ends at the end of this month.  Or have the drive to finish items either (you don't get maximum points if you don't complete your homework... and you can even submit things you'd abandonned but have now finished for detention credit)

If anyone else out there has any basic knit or crochet knowledge and is a Potter fan I'd highly recommend joining the House Cup.  It's very inspiring, you find loads of new patterns and advice and I've been learning all sorts of new techniques, including how to work with lace weight yarn and how to dye wool.  Something that I'm now addicted to, so I'm having to start knitting up the yarn I've dyed in order to have room to dye more.

There's even space for other artistic endeavours as quite a few classes have permitted sewing and I've been doing some drawings too.

...more on the drawings shortly.  ;)
