Провалив выступление в ЛЧ и не сумев защитить чемпионский титул Премьер-лиги, Манчини уступил ещё и в финале Кубка Англии "Уигану". В официальном заявлении клуба из Манчестера говорится, что Манчини "не смог выполнить ни одну из задач клуба на нынешний сезон, за исключением квалификации в следующую Лигу чемпионов".
