Yet another tutorial, just coz I can.

I’m not entirely sure how this works with other images as I haven’t actually tried it much.
Step 1. Crop your image. Try to make sure there is plenty of space around your subject.
result Step 2. Sharpen you base if need be. Create a layer below your image and fill it with a colour as close to the background colour as you can get. I used #46736B. Using the smudge tool, blend the line at the top of your image into the colour fill layer.
Merge all.
result Step 3. Duplicate your image and set it to Screen.
result Step 4. Create a new layer and fill it with #1F0000 set it to Exclusion 100%.
result Step 5. Create another new layer and fill it this time with #BFC122 on Darken 30%.
result Step 6. Make a Selective Color layer with these settings:
R: -100, 0, +100, +100
Y: -100, 0, +100, +100
G: -32, -9, +20, 0
C: +100, 0, -100, +100
N: -16, -3, +7, 0
B: 0, 0, 0, +10
result Step 7. Make yet another layer flood filled with #CC423B and set it to Soft Light 72%.
result Step 8. Now for some textures! First I used
this texture from
unmasked_icons on Difference 100%. Then I erased the texture over the person because it looked far too dark.
result Step 9. Next I used
this texture from
distractiions and set it to Multiply 75%.
result Step 10. My icon looked a bit dark so I filled a new layer with white (#FFFFFF) and set it to Soft Light 85%. Then, lowering the opacity on my eraser I erased a little bit over the person.
DONE!
