As promised, here's a tutorial for some of the icons I mosted yesterday. I have 3 more .psd's that I could turn into tutorials but I'm still deciding.
I would have had this up earlier but, just as I was about to start writing the washing machine deemed it an approproate time to overflow and flood the laundry.
Good fun.
I've redesigned the preview/intro/title card/whatever too, I thought the old one was pretty bland.
This is a slightly modified version of one of my previous tutorials found
here.
Step 1. As usual, prep your base. Be careful of over-sharp-ey-ness (that should seriously be a word).
Step 2. Duplicate your base and set it to Screen. I set mine to 70% Opacity but you may want to leave it at 100% till the end and then go back and change it if you need to.
result Step 3. Create a Curves adjustment layer with these settings:
RGB:
Point 1- Input: 58 Output: 60
Point 2- Input: 105 Output: 141
Red:
Point 1- Input: 44 Output: 57
Point 2- Input: 122 Output: 138
Green:
Point 1- Input: 61 Output: 75
Point 2- Input: 109 Output: 136
Blue:
Point 1- Input: 31 Output: 44
Point 2- Input: 126 Output: 141
Leave it on Normanl but set the Opacity to 73%.
result Step 4. Create a Selective Color adjustment layer with these settings:
R: -100, 0, +100, +100
Y: +5, +9, +100, +22
result Step 5. Make a new layer filled with #54BCF7 and set it to Soft Light 54% Opacity.
result Step 6. Create another layer filled with #8CA273 set on Overlay 58%.
result Step 7. Make another Selective Color layer this time with these settings:
R: -100, 0, +100, +100
Y: -56, -37, +13, 0
B: 0, 0, ,0 +24
result Step 8. Create yet another Selective Color layer but this time like this:
R: -20, 0, 0, 0
C: +100, 0, -100, 0
N: +40, +7, -22, 0
B: 0, 0, 0, +28
result Step 9. I added
this texture on Linear Burn 100%. Then added some text (The font is called Horse Puke)
NOTES:
- If your final result is too red them delete or lower the opacity on the second selective colour layer (from step 7)
- If your final result looks grainy and crappy then try moving the Screen layer to the top, below the texture. Then play with Color Balance, Curves and Solid Colors (greens and yellows on Multiply or Soft Light) until you’re happy.
