I just read some kind of upsetting news.
Cosmetic companies who had been making strides forward towards no longer using animal testing, have taken a step back to make it into the Chinese market.
And I don't see it as their fault, they have every right to try sell their products everywhere. I see it as the Chinese government's fault, because they require animal tests on any product before it can sold. And that's just horrible.
Now I'm not a huge PeTA person, I think some of their members go over-board. But I REALLY don't think animals should be subjected to potentially painful chemicals and reactions, particularly seeing as they don't communicate in a human language.
Also animal skin has different protein structures and whatnot from human skin, so I don't see how something that doesn't cause a rabbit to breakout won't make me breakout. (And yes I have broken out from products tested on animals, before I became aware of animal testing, labeled hypoallergenic)
I don't know really what one could do about a law in a country other than this one.
Hopefully L'Oreal will at least leave the companies they've acquired as they were, cruelty free.
