Introduction and a question
Hi I'm new here and thought I would introduce myself. My name is Heather and I'm 31 weeks pregnant with my first, a girl! My husband and I are thrilled as it took us six years of trying to get to this point. I'm due on June 9th and at this point I just can't wait to get to that day!
My question is about baby showers. Does everyone have one? My MIL wanted to have one for me but I really don't want one. After having to attend a bunch of baby showers during the time that we were having fertility problems I have just really grown to hate them. Plus most of the people that I would invite would have to make over an hour long drive to get here and I just don't want to make them do that. Its just not that important to me. I don't enjoy being the center of attention and I basically already have everything that I need for the baby. We don't have a lot of room in the nursery to store things so I really don't want to aquire a ton of stuff from people. So my mother explained this to my MIL and now she refuses to speak to me. This is really the last thing that I need right now and I don't understand why it is such a big deal. I have enough to stress about without adding MIL drama to the list. So should I just give in and let her throw the shower or stand my ground? After all shouldn't I have some say in whether or not I want a shower? I am the one having the baby here! And yes I know she wanted to do it to be nice but I don't understand why she just can't take a polite no as answer.
