version question

I am 37 weeks along with baby #2 and at our ultrasound today we found that she is still in transverse position. My OB mentioned the possibility of attempting a version next week. Has anyone had experience with versions? This has been a relatively normal pregnancy, my amniotic fluid level is good, and the baby is smallish (25th percentile). The only ( Read more... )

My first was breech about three days before my induction. I had high fluid levels and an anterior placenta, so every position on spinningbabies.com was not recommended (too risky). I found a random comment on the internet where someone said they put an ice pack on the baby's head and a heating pad down low, and the baby turned toward the heat. I tried putting an ice pack on her head (didn't do the heating pad) and the next day at my u/s she was head down. With baby #2, she was back and forth between breech and head down - basically every other week between 34-39. I didn't try to do anything to turn her because she was so unstable (that's what they call it when the baby doesn't stay in one position) - and because I couldn't figure out her position externally (I didn't want to unknowingly cause her to flip breech). Again, right before my induction 39+2, she was head down and ready to go. Sometimes babies just know when it's time. Technically if you went to 41 or 42 weeks, the baby could still have 5 weeks to get into the proper position. Good luck!

Also, if your fluid is normal and she's on the small side, she should still have room to get positioned and turn head down.

Ahh, I've heard that a couple of times too, but didn't know where exactly you were supposed to put the cool pack. Don't some people also use light to "lure" baby into another position? It certainly can't hurt trying. :P

Thanks. I tried the ice pack thing last night (no hot pack). We'll see how that goes. I am still hoping she just is a "late bloomer" and will get into position on her own. :)

I hope she gets head down soon (and stays there!). The thought of a c-section was very scary for me. Keep us posted - I'll be sending "flippy" thoughts!
