Can't Stop Eating

Jun 03, 2013 12:27

One of my original concerns with being pregnant, before we were even thinking about conceiving, was that I would gain too much weight and become unhealthy. I was chubby as a kid/early teen then got my weight under control in high school and university but a couple summers ago while I was unemployed I let myself get heavy once again and was still on ( Read more... )

Hiya- I can relate a little to this- I am also a bit worried about weightgain in pregnancy. I am 25 weeks and lost lots of weight (more than 12lb) through sickness weeks 5-8ish, and then didn't put any weight back on until the last few weeks.Took me until week 20 to get up to my pre pregnancy weight, and I am eating pretty normally I think, but my weight has suddenly jumped up again the last few weeks! I'm 5ft 10 and went down to 149lb when I was sick. I'm now about 169! So 20lb seems like a lot to me at 25 weeks!

No good advice- but make sure you eat lots of GOOD things and drink lots of water! Sounds like you've got some good ideas (strawberries >chocolate!)

I was weighed at every appointment, and sometimes I would only gain 1 pounds, then the next visit, I gained 10. I ate healthy for the most part, but I was always hungry, so I ate pretty much constantly (even towards the end when my stomach was smooshed). I wanted to stick to the recommended weight gain, but I ended up gaining 60 pounds. I know this doesn't answer your question and I did feel like a house at the end of my pregnancy. The up side is that I dropped 40 pounds in the first two months. I've been struggling with the last 20, but I haven't been exercising either, so that's more user error than not being able to loose it ( ... )

I had no morning sickness either and gained 80lbs! I have had issues with eating for a while now though and my metabolism is all kinds of messed up because of it.

I'm 4.5 months PP and still 35lbs over my pre-pregnancy weight, but I have dropped 45 pounds of it!

Not exactly what the OP is asking, either, but it can come off.

Me too... no morning sickness, gained 50-60 pounds. Lost it all from birthing and the weeks after (a lot was water weight) and from a year of breastfeeding, plus lost another 20 pounds from breastfeeding.

The sweet cravings is your body telling you to up your protein intake. Protein shake in the morning, peanut butter on toast in the afternoon type thing.

You'll probably lose everything if you nurse. Some people keep weight on while nursing though, and then lose it all once they've weaned.

Protein. If you're craving cheese, go for cottage cheese. That usually has at least 12g of protein in it right there. Greek yogurt is usually high in protein as well. Otherwise, this sounds like both of my prior pregnancies. With my first I went from 160 to 210 by the due date. I lost all but 10 lbs after she was born. Depression issues made me gain 20 lbs up to 190 before I was pregnant with my second daughter (even with working out and eating fairly well). I went from 190 to 240 before Ashley was born October 9, 2012. I was 190 by the time I was three weeks pp. My body apparently just likes to gain weight while pregnant ( ... )

Protein is a good way to feel full. You can find it in nuts (the brand Emerald has cocoa dusted almonds, just enough of a chocolate fix and you get protein), meats, cheeses, etc. A lot of the time when you think you are craving sweets, you are craving protein too. Don't deny yourself a food craving if you really want it, just eat a smaller amount and pair it with some sort of protein ( ... )

You've already gotten some good advice, but I just wanted to add that you probably won't feel this way in another month. Your stomach will get very smooshed! I only have a month to go and I feel full so quickly now.
