I'm suffering from heartburn a bit again, but I recently realized that the sodium bicarbonate-based tablets I was taking (and which were successfully providing relief) were not recommended during pregnancy. So I went looking for magnesium or calcium based alternatives. The problem is, I live in Germany, and ALL of the magnesium or calcium based alternatives that I have found so far are peppermint flavoured - and I HATE peppermint. Like, it-would-make-me-vomit hate. I have ordered some fruit-flavoured US Tums via Amazon, but while I am waiting for them, I am getting desperate again, and I'm trying to work out quite what the problem with sodium bicarbonate-based tablets are. So far, all I can find is that it can cause water retention. I am currently 32w3d, and so far I am not suffering any visible signs of water retention.
Would I actually be safe in taking the sodium bicarb option if I am not suffering any water retention issues?
is it safe?,
