GD

If you had GD and have already given birth, can I hear how it went, either in a comment or a birth story link? I'm specificially looking for, did they do a late term ultrasound to guesstamate baby's weight? Were you induced or did you go into labor on your own? At what gestation? Did you have a c-section? Was it scheduled?

Thank you!

I likely had GD (didn't do the GTT but had sugar in my urine regularly) but I had home births so the answer to whether any interventions were done is no. no u/s, though the MW did keep tabs on weight via palpating. both (only spilled sugar with the last 2 out of 5) came between 41-42 weeks. one was over 11 lb but the next was a pound smaller and more on par with my non-GD babies.

I had GD and had all of it - late term ultrasound (which was fairly accurate) and I was induced on my actual due date so I was 40 weeks. Induction went really smoothly and I was only in labor for just over 24 hours all up (including from when they inserted the gels as cramping / contractions started pretty much within a half hour). I had a vaginal birth with an epi :)

I had GD with my baby who was born in November. Mine was relatively mild and I kept it well under control with diet. I did have a late ultrasound at 36 weeks to check size, but that was because I suddenly measured small. My baby measured small on the ultrasound, too so I had another one at 38 weeks to rule out IUGR. (We did. My baby was just naturally small.) I had to do twice weekly non-stress tests and biophysical profiles associated with the suspected IUGR, but once that was done with my doctor did not make me keep doing any more testing just because of the GD.

I went into labor on my own at 39 weeks 4 days. A nurse checked my blood sugar when I was admitted, but they never bothered to check it again. I'm not sure if that was my doctor's orders or not--I'd been told before hand that they'd want to check it every two hours during labor.

I delivered my baby naturally, and they checked his blood sugar right away. It was fine, and the nurse told me they wouldn't check it again. But she came into my room a few hours later to appologize ( ... )

I had GD with my son. I did have an u/s at 38 weeks where they determind he was already at least 9 pound, but they were dead set on inducing me at 39 weeks no matter what the results of that would have been. Against my better judgement I went to the induction and ended up with a c/s after classic cascade of interventions. My son was 8#7 and had no blood sugar issues of his own.

I had mild GD, controlled easily with diet alone. I did have a late-term ultrasound to make sure everything was looking good, which it was, and many non-stress tests near the end, all of which were fine. I was induced at 40+3, and after three hours of pushing needed a c-section due to her bad positioning and fetal distress. She was 6 pounds, 10 ounces.
