Hi,
I'm 23 weeks pregnant, and starting to show a fair amount. I have my next dr. appointment next week, and I know I'm prolly due for a heartbeat check, since last time I got my ultrasounds. But what really is bothering me is I've never had a pap-smear, and I've heard its dangerous to get them when your farther along, causing misccariage or stillbirth or other complications. When I heard this I was very mad, because this is my first pregnancy and as for my understanding they are suppose to do that at the first dr. appt. Not to mention I've them knowng my family medical history, my mother never carried any of us full term due to an incompetent cervix. My friend used the same dr. and the gave her a pap at 6 months, she was fine. But it just really bothering, my family doctor told me to swithc dr, because that should have been the first thing done, honestly im not comfortable with the dr at all. He makes me very uncomfortable and he seems to busy to care.
So I guess my real question is: is it safe for me to get a pap, or should I refuse?
Thanks!
~Hannah
