Sleeping Positions Post C-Section

Aug 14, 2011 18:45

I had an emergency c-section on the morning of July 28th. The outer incision is vertical, and the uterine incision is horizontal. For the first 12 days after my daughter was born, I slept in a semi reclining position on our reclining couch, partly because it hurt the incision to sleep in bed and partly because my mom was here and was sleeping in our bed. After she left, I started sleeping in our bed again. It no longer hurts the incision site, but my hips and lower back are in agony all night long. Is this normal? Is it just the muscles in that area healing? They’re fine as long as I’m laying on my back, but side sleeping is practically torturous. I thought maybe it’d just take a few days to get used to sleeping in a real bed again, but it’s not getting any better. Any insight or personal experience would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
