I can't help with the u/s question. Sorry.

I had horrible sciatic nerve pain with my two kids' pregnancies. Chiropractic adjustments helped me a lot. In between appointments, I was told to ice the area on my spine (like, really low back - almost tailbone) rather than heat.

I have two herniated discs in my Lumbar spine due to an accident a few years back and have had surgery on my spine as a result. Sciatic pain is a big concern for me during my pregnancy, so I know what you're going through. I already had an occurrence during my 1st trimester that resulted in a ER visit, and I'm totally scared that it might happen again. However, both for pregnant and not-pregnant people, the suggested treatments are the same ( ... )

I can see where people would assume that's a girl, but I think they are saying that because you can't plainly see a penis. But you can't obviously see the girl parts either. I'm sure that's why the tech didn't make a guess...they have to see parts one way or the other. Just because it looks like no boy part doesn't mean she could say girl, ya know? I think the tech was right to not give a guess.

As for sciatic pain, it's been a while since I had it, but I used to try to stretch my legs to help. I also used heat and ice packs, too.

They always have me keep a knee up for my ultrasounds (which helps tremendously. I think I have the nerve pain ON TOP of my already messed up back, on top of my inability to breathe while laying flat, which is exacerbated by larger boobs, which I didn't need. Holy run on sentence). Can they do them that way when you're there? I've had I think six U/S thus far due to a blood clot, so I dunno if you have to have a repeat one or not, as I'm not sure what a regular schedule is anymore, LOL. Keeping a knee up and an arm behind my head seems to keep my back calm and my breathing okay when they have me lie down for the U/S.
