I have not actually had a C-section, but my mother has had two. Her advice is:

Get up and move around as much as possible in the hospital. It will help the soreness a LOT and will help you be okay with moving around once you get home with baby.

Yes! The very next day, and though standing hurts like hell, the water feels great.

Indeed! My friend had a C-section recently, and was ecstatic when they let her shower the next morning - she said it really hurt to stand so she sit in the little shower seat, but it was nice.

You never really realize how much you use your stomach muscles until that kind of surgery I guess!
