Sex of the baby update

Dec 16, 2010 23:19

I posted back at 15w how they gave my baby an 85% chance of being a girl...and today at our anatomy scan (19w2d), it was confirmed! Or at least almost-certainly confirmed: the tech said they can never be 100% sure of it being a girl, but they bumped me up to 95%. Anyway, I saw the hamburger as clear as day and so I'm excited. I went out and bought a little pink outfit today and planned my colors for the nursery (lavender and sage green).

I have two questions though that I hope you guys can help with:

1) Everything about baby looked good during the scan, but they found two choroid plexus cysts in her brain. I have decided not to freak out about this since my baby has no other markers for chromosomal defects and her AFP and quad screen came back negative. And also, the doctor told me that virtually all CPCs disappear by 26 weeks. But...what about the ones that don't, just for curiosity's sake? Do you need surgery or something? Will I require monitoring? Or do they just leave them and not worry about them?

2) Because of some spotting I had last weekend, my OB wanted to check my cervix today. But she couldn't get a good measurement of my cervix because I was having a contraction in my lower abdomen that lasted for about 20 minutes! We could see it on the ultrasound--it was squashing the area. I had no idea I was having a contraction until they told me I was...then I knew that feeling I thought was round ligament pain really wasn't. The doctor said this wasn't a big deal and that it was normal, but it wasn't a Braxton Hicks, it was "something else"...has anybody heard of this before? I feel like I should have read about this somewhere but I haven't.

It's nice to post here about happy things instead of my normal woe-is-me worries. :)
