I'm about 4 days PP and my milk has DEFINITELY come in. My SO and I have decided to exclusively breast feed our son, but due to our schedules it's just going to work out better to do most feedings via pumping, which I'm perfectly okay with.
Anyway, here's my question. When my son was first born they had me pump every three hours to encourage my milk to come in. Now that it's in, I NEED to pump just about every three hours or else my breasts get so full and tender, it actually wakes me up and just touching one lightly can make milk squirt haha. Is it going to be like this the entire time I breastfeed? I really want to breast feed for a year... am I going to get no more than 3 hours of sleep at a time for the next year? Right now we have him on a schedule of eating every 4 hours, which is working out really well for everyone. Can I train my body to only need to be pumped every 4 hours without compromising my milk supply?
Also kind of a "just curious" question. When my son latches on to anything - breast, bottle, pacifier (he's done really well with not having any nipple confusion) - he opens his mouth really wide, I put the nipple in, then shakes his head back and forth a few times until he fully latches and begins sucking. Is that... normal? Is he trying to tell me something by this? It's kinda cute but if he's unhappy with something I'm doing I obviously want to correct it.
Thanks in advance guys :)
