I heard you're not supposed to use hair dye in the first trimester, but what about the third?

Safe, yes. But keep in mind that during pregnancy, your hormones may make your hair dye come out other than how you intended.

Hormonal shifts can cause colors to come out differently than intended. At least that's what both my hairdresser and "What to Expect When You're Expecting" say. My hairdresser said that the red coloring I usually use could turn out more purple because of the hormones.

Can I see sources for a backed up reason please? I know many women who have dyed their hair when pregnat and never experiences this and i would to research it further

That makes sense at the roots because the hormones will be in the new hair, but not for the ends where the hair is long dead. So in early pregnancy your chances of getting a weird color should be less than later on when you have more pregnant hair growth.

Not disputing you, just thinking it through.

i.e, not the color on the box. It's not going to come out hot pink or something, but may not be the color you were going for. A lot of women complain of dye tuning their hair orangish or brassy during pregnancy.
