Clomid pregnancies

I've asked about clomid in the ttc communities, but it seems that a lot of the people there have had difficulty with it (obviously, or many of them wouldn't still be ttc). I know it not working quickly, or miscarrying if it does, are possibilities, but I'd liked to hear some success stories ( Read more... )

our twins were colmid babies. it took 100mg per day, for us to get prego on it. It took us over 5 years of TTC. we would do our 4 rounds then wait a year, then do 4 rounds.... i had finally gotten fertility coverage and we were going to go to stronger meds after that month, i dident have any BCP in the house and couldent get in to see my GP or the ENDO and so the ENDO said to take the last of the clomid and that he would see me and prescribe BCP for the next few months to get me through christmas time in my job (i worked retail management at the time) and well, low and behold we got prego that cycle and then ended up with 4 months of injectable drugs that we couldent use, couldent sell, and couldent donate....

Are you only supposed to do four rounds of clomid in a row?

My doctor implied that after 3-4 cycles of clomid NOT working (i.e. stimulating ovulation), that it was time to move on to the next phase. I didn't think it was safety or anything, just acknowledging that "well, that didn't work, let's try the next thing."

it is a stimulant to the overies. it causes you to make more eggs then normal if it is working. they shold be doing ultrasound and blood draws to show that you are ovulating.

for us we were ovulating but not getting prego. they sugested going to stronger injectables but we could not afford them at the time.

I got pregnant on my first cycle of Clomid (50mg, cd 5-9) then miscarried at 11 weeks. Baby died earlier-perinatologist estimates around week 6 or 7. He said it looked like a chromosomal defect. I didn't question what he told me and never thought it could be the Clomid... My OB cut me off of Clomid because 6 cycles after the miscarriage didn't work and said I would have to see an RE for stronger drugs, but then I lost my job and what little infertility treatment coverage I would have had. I think not having the stressful job may have helped me conceive a little. I'm now pregnant (16 weeks) and this one happened naturally.

I got pregnant on my second round of clomid. The first round was 50mg and I didn't ovulate. Then I took 100mg and I did ovulate for the first time since TTC, and got pregnant. I am now 29 weeks with a healthy baby. Good luck!

Congrats and thank you!

May I ask what your reasons for taking clomid were?

Sorry I can't offer advice, but I am on my first treatment cycle -- it's my third day of taking letrozole (Femara) -- so I'm interested to hear what people say!

My doctor prescribed letrozole right off the bat because she claims it's more effective with less chance of multiple births ...but who really knows.

I personally know three people who successfully got pregnant with Clomid. I only know the details of one, though - she was TTC for about a year, kept having to raise/lower her dose due to other issues, but she finally did conceive. When she did get pregnant, I remember that the home pregnancy test BARELY showed a line after fifteen minutes. She wasn't sure it actually "counted," but sure enough, she went to the doc and she was knocked up. Her daughter just turned six years old this month!

Good luck :-D
