First of all, I let it slip to my mom that I couldn't afford the Hypnobabies study (she and my dad like to buy us everything we can't, and I hate it) and she ordered it for me. I'm extremely thankful! It should be here around Friday. I must admit though, it still makes me feel bad that she bought it ( Read more... )

Really? I had read that only private instiutions, like private colleges and schools and such, could legally mandate you to vaccinate your child. All you had to do was get your child tested for the disease he/she was not being vaccinated before at the given intervals of each state (usually every 6 months or a year) and have a doctor sign a waiver stating that your child was clear.

I'm planning on homeschooling so I'm not really worried about it unless ishe decides she wants to try school, in which case I am able to claim it is against my religion or lifestyle and just go with the waiver deal. I read testimonies from parents who had been told they had to do it anyway but found out through the law that they didn't, and even parents who sued because the school and day care wouldn't stop inquiring about what religion they were (which is also illegal).

I guess I should ask an official person about it just to be certain. Thank you!

As for the ring sling, I'd pretty much only use it when walking the dog, cleaning or shopping. Which I guess would be often... I just want to be sure about the one I'm getting and it's awesome to hear that you like yours!

The diapers are old (given to me by an acquaintance who had probably had them 10+ years) and have nothing, just the extra layering in the center. They look gigantic though! I think I'm going to have to order some new ones and just use those as burp/nursing cloths so they don't go to waste.

It sounds like the diapers are plain old prefolds, which are not bad if they are diaper service quality. They are huge on newborns, but great for older babies. http://pinstripesandpolkadots.com/products/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=1195&idcategory=4

One Sized Diapers: http://pinstripesandpolkadots.com/products/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=5887&idcategory=80 They are easy to use, just like disposables. You just put them under baby, fasten the velcro on the front, and you're ready to go!

Just adding that pinstripesandpolkadots is an awesome site. The lady that runs it is really nice, and they ship really fast. There are a ton of great resources on there too for learing about cloth diapering.

jilliansdrawers.com has a "convert to cloth" trial pack that I got when I was pregnant with DS. For $100-something, you get a box of like a dozen types of diapers. You get to try them for 3 weeks and send back whatever you don't like (and you only pay $10 plus what the diapers you keep cost...you get refunded for the ones you send back). It's a great way to see and touch and use all the differnt styles and brands. I highly recommend it.
