Leaking?

Oct 19, 2009 22:09

I was sleeping last night when I rolled over & felt a little wet. I went to the Dr today for my check up & mentioned it. He said with the amount of fluid still in there it was unlikely that it was amniotic fluid & most likely was urine. I have felt it 2 more times today. I'm scheduled to be induced on Thursday. I haven't noticed that it really ( Read more... )

just FYI you can be totally closed and not thinned at all at your appointment and have a baby that night. Them checking dialation tells you nothing about where you are in corelation to when you deliver. and yes Peeing yourslef happens alot and can feel like water breaking... I freaked myself out quite a few times by peeing involuntarily its funny looking back on it.

I had a sprung a small leak exactly on my due date. I went to the hospital after I felt a small gush, and they sent me home after the ultrasound, saying my fluid levels were a-okay. At that point, I felt I was pissing myself. The next day, I was still leaking. I went to the OB office immediately. After a speculum exam in the office, the tested the fluids and they were, indeed, of the amniotic variety. I was only 1cm dilated at the time, 50% effaced...where I had been since 36 weeks.

After they found out it was amniotic fluid, they sent me back to the hospital to augment my labor (meaning, they gave me pitocin to get the contractions going). They felt it was too risky to let me continue to leak until my body decided to go into full labor. I'm not sure if the risk was worth the pitocin, myself. They also gave me IV antibiotics.

Best of luck to you! Hope you meet your little one soon!

When I went the hospital because I was leaking I was 1cm and my cervix was still long, but I was leaking fluid. They can use a test strip and test very easily to see if you're leaking. Never the less, my water broke on it's own within about three hours of being admitted, so maybe you'll get lucky and your labor will start on it's own in the next few days.
