Cloth Diaper Question

Hello,

I've been doing my research on cloth diapering, and am waiting to be accepted to clothdiapering , so I thought I would ask you ladies a few questions.  I looked through this community's tags, as well.  I got lots of great info there, but I still have these inquiries...

We're already certain that we're going with cloth.  I really like bumGenius in particular ( Read more... )

We actually don't love our BG. We do have some one size diapers because they're a better fit when stuffed for overnight on my ten month old, but we prefer Wonderroos, though I'm anxious to try the new one size Fuzzi Bunz. I like the fit and fleece instead of suedecloth better, and I like that Wonderroos snap rather than fasten with Aplix.

My ten month old is usually in a prefold fastened with a Snappi during the day. I do keep some pocket diapers ready to go in the diaper bag-I like them when I'm changing a diaper in the back of the car or in a public restroom when I've got a diaper bag, my purse, anything else I might have bought, it's just a bit easier to only deal with one piece rather than a diaper and a cover, and we've found that a pocket diaper is better for her when she sleeps-the fleece lined ones keep her feeling a bit dryer and she sleeps longer-we realized this when she started waking two hours after she went to bed and didn't want food just a diaper change, but most of our stash is prefolds. In fact, if you ask my husband "If you could only have one kind of diaper, what would it be" he'll tell you prefolds and covers.

My daughter, and many other kids won't fit a one size diaper very well at the beginning...it's often just too much diaper on a newborn. My daughter is particularly petite, but it takes most kids a few weeks to fit them.

I actually prefer to have some variety in my stash and not to have one kind of diaper. For most of our day to day diapers, I like prefolds and covers. For naps I like Fuzzi Bunz, for the diaper bag, I like Fuzzi Bunz or Blue Penguin AIOs or Baby Soft Wraps AI2s. For overnights, we're all about the Wonderroos. And for days like today when she's got a touch of rash on her bottom, I like a fitted with snaps and no cover-currently my favorite fitted is a Tot's Bots Bamboozle, but there are some other great ones out there.

I would avoid committing to one kind of diaper until you've actually diapered your kid for a little while-you'll find out what you like and what works best for your baby based on his or her skin, bathroom habits and shape-some kids fit some diapers and some kids don't.

I'm in total agreement. We do love our bG!. I also like Happy Heinys, but we can never use them for nighttime because they always seem to leak. It totally depends on the baby, their dimension, your preferences, etc...
