I'm probably a hypercondriact (sp?), but that's just me and it always has been.
I had my weekly checkup today, I'm 36w5d pregnant. For the past three weeks I've been having minor pain in my right leg. Mostly behind the knee. It doesn't really HURT hurt, more like a stretching/pinching feeling, and it's more uncomfortable and annoying then anything. So last week I brought it up to my doctor, who checked it out and said it was probably a varicose vein, and didn't seem concerned. Well the feeling is stretching, like the pulling feeling, down to my calf and up to my thigh. Once again, it doesn't really hurt, it just feels weird/uncomfortable. So I brought it up again today, he said it's probably just a deep varicosity (varicose vein) and if it becomes PAINFUL, to give him a call right away because that could be a sign of a blood clot, but if it's not painful, then not to worry, I'm having the baby in 17 days and it should get better once the pressure of my uterus is off it.
Now, I trust my doctor, I really do, but the whole thing makes me feel... eh, uneasy? I'm most likely over-reacting, as I'm sure he's right and it's nothing, but I'm just wondering how normal are varicose veins? As a nursing student I know, logically, blood clots in pregnancy develop in varicose veins usually, but it's not very often that happens. But the whole thing is making me worried.
