I was talking to someone who gave birth in August that wanted to breastfeed but she has been having problems with it. She told me that when she tries to pump it's hardly anything at all and proceeded to tell me that when she gave birth the nurses took her son and formula fed him. She also tried to breastfeed in the hospital, but I'm assuming that since she can't after a month of birth it wasn't working well there either.
We have the same OB so I will be giving birth at the same hospital.
My question is, before I give birth do I need to let the nurses know that I am planning to breastfeed? Also, how far in advance do you think I need to tell them (assuming they will put it in my file)? I don't want this to possibly happen to me, because I want to strictly breastfeed. Do you think it is just a problem with her supply, maybe she wasn't producing?
Sorry I have so many questions about this. I'm just really worried now since I'll be giving birth at the same hospital and this is my 1st.
