FANDOM: Persona 3
CANON: Post-Answer, right after she leaves the Velvet Room.
WHAT THEY LOST: Memories of Theodore and Margaret
ABOUT THE CHARACTER:
Elizabeth is kind of a nutcase, but you can't really blame her for it. After all, she's stuck in a blue room located between mind and matter with an old man with a really long nose for a master. She's remarkably well adjusted for someone in her position, although "adjusted" might not be the right word for it. Since she's a wielder of power, a title that is otherwise unspecific in both requirement and meaning (but generally means that she is a resident of the Velvet Room), she has the right to manipulate and house several Personas in her Compendium. Initially, she doesn't seem to have a purpose beyond serving as sort of a librarian for the Main Character's personas; then, in a strange twist, she starts asking him for small favors. Through his year in the Velvet Room, she seems to take great amusement from having the main character complete tasks for her, ranging from menial to wildly difficult. In her comments about every item you retrieve for her, she displays both a deep understanding of battle and the worth of effort and a curiosity towards human objects and sentiments, inspecting each human novelty with great care (and often leading to hilariously convoluted conclusions). She never takes off her strange, formal exterior, leading one to believe that her interior world is much the same; alien, strange, but with enough thought, entirely comprehensible. The main character gets her to share her thoughts firsthand when she requests him to take her on several small outings to the human world. During these dates, her insights and preconceptions about human culture and customs come off as both deeply insightful and completely hilarious. You could say she's a bit of a thrill-seeker, always taking in the pleasures of life at whatever risks she sees, both imaginary and real. Even though her consistently feline mannerisms pigeonhole her as a hedonist, she slowly grows puzzled about, then introspective towards her purpose in life. It's implied that it is a dilemma she's toyed around with every so often, but hadn't seen it as a crippling hindrance until she met the main character. As the game progresses and the dates continue, she slowly finds that her purpose grows clearer whenever she contacts the human world, and slowly narrows the wide range of possibilities for this clarity until she found herself regarding her guide - the main character - with feelings she had never experienced before. To her great surprise, she found that she considered the time she shared with him as precious as the time she spent exploring his world. Pursuing this interest (all the way to his bedroom, no less), she found her purpose, or at least established a path to understanding it. She regards him with deep affection and gratitude for giving her existence in the Velvet Room purpose, because without the main character, she would have no need to live at all. However, after their battle and her loss, she comes to a second realization: only she could decide what her purpose was, and only she could choose what path her life would take. After the main character's death, she chose to stay in the Velvet Room until Aigis found her purpose as well. However, this isn't to say that she abandoned her old purpose: a year on, you find out that she abandoned the room in search of a way to free the main character from his eternal seal. Whether it is out of a need to see his sacrifice rewarded or if she still harbors a selfish need to see him again is unclear. However, she knows herself better than most people can boast, and with that faith in herself, she is a formidable force to be reckoned with. What Elizabeth wants, she gets. So when I say well-adjusted, I mean to say that she functions well enough in spheres she doesn't fully understand. She's grounded in her understanding of herself and equipped with a heaping ton of power and a notable lack of fear. She is a force to be reckoned with.
THIRD-PERSON WRITING SAMPLE:
Boom. She looked up at Surt in satisfaction as he faded away, then turned to inspect the gaping hole in the castle wall. The hole led outdoors, and the outdoors were green, verdant, and quite certainly not where she was before. She opened her Compendium again and switched cards. "Cu Chulainn," she stated, pointing a gloved finger at a perfect example of an unsullied castle wall, "Over there, if you will."
Boom.
She wasn't altogether too displeased with her new state of affairs. If she was going to start looking for another answer, she had to start somewhere, and if fate decreed that this was where her search would start, so it would be. However, she had had a destination in mind, and a polite fellow would never interfere with the wishes of an earnest lady. This fellow would now lose his abode in retaliation. This seemed perfectly justified: in exchange for her halted journey, she would give him a reason to move onto a journey of his own. She would not even penalize him for the theft of the majority of her personas; a magnanimous gesture, if she did say so herself.
She could not, however, deny there wasn't a simple pleasure in knocking holes into a structure as a child would destroy a wall of blocks. She wondered if even he had such tendencies.
There was a journal, yes; a means of communication with certain other individuals who were, presumably, taken from journeys of their own. She would address them later, however alluring the pages of this new book was. She had weightier matters to attend to.
She pointed at another wall, and watched as Thor tore it asunder. (She giggled to herself. A pun.) Now, if only the master of this castle would come to greet his newest guest…
FIRST-PERSON WRITING SAMPLE:
Greetings, denizens of this castle. [THOOM. Shit comes tumbling down like no one's business. You probably felt that if you live on the second or third floors.] I would extend a longer greeting with you, my fellow captives, but I am afraid to say that that happy ceremony cannot be. [KABOOM.] You see, I was quite busy when the good master of this castle brought me here, and although I would not ordinarily mind a change in my state of affairs, I must say that the matter I had been attending to was of grave importance. [BLAMMO!]
Now, if anyone can direct the master's attention to my predicament, I would be most grateful for your succor. In the meantime… [EXPLOSION!] I would suggest that anyone in the kitchen area vacate the premises immediately, unless they are immune to death by the destruction of their physical vessel. I am not a mood to hold back.
[tap, tap, tap go the heels of her boots.] In other words… You have until ten. Nine. Eight…
INTENT: SHE'S SO WEIRD. I like her voice, I LOVE the way she thinks, and I think she would really enjoy seeing Minty again. Plus, she gets to talk with OTHER PEOPLE, omgomgomg yessss.
