Internship Progress

So, my campus ministry internship has been way different this semester than it was last semester and the year before. I'm really at a point where I want to be in a full-time campus ministry position... or just in a position where I have more freedom to offer faith formation ministries to students. I really see that as a need in the Creighton community and a need that I feel I am called to fill. I just don't think Creighton or Campus Ministry agrees. Next school year I will not be a Campus Ministry Intern. It is kind of sad knowing that I will not be back to work at Campus Ministry, but it is also refreshing to think that I will be able to move on and work somewhere else, hopefully in ministry.
"What have you done this semester?" you might be asking. Well, I have coordinated an Alt. Worship Ecumenical Ash Wednesday Service. I have helped organize an InterFaith Service and Reflection group that will hopefully continue to meet next school year. I have also been meeting with a Director of Christian Education at Central Presby church.
My internship rotation with Central Presby has been great. I have been meeting with the DCE at Central and I have been learning all different aspects of Christian Education from her. I have looked at curriculae and learned how to modify them to a specific church community. I have also learned about using T/V shows and movies in youth group and how to watch a movie for Christian Education appropriate lesson material and then develop a lesson plan.
So, really, the internship has been great, but it has certainly been different than previous years.
Peace.
