So... I'm getting married in 20 days... No wait, strike that, 19 days now. That's why I've been absent from livejournal -- well that and the fact that I'm a lazy bum. I put up a website with all my wedding plans on it, even a blog, so I've been posting the day-to-day events there. I think the wedding planning has been the most tiring, stressful, aggravating thing we've had to deal with in our relationship. We've had more fights (from being POed about how shit was going) than about anything else.
For those who don't know yet we're getting married in the
Minneapolis Peace Garden which is Japanese garden near one of the lakes. We picked the date based on when the trees would be blooming. We're having a groom's dinner at the
Loring Pasta Bar. LPB was too expensive to have the whole wedding at (10K+). Our other plan to have it at the
Four Seasons Dance Studio fell through when they started jerking around on the contract and trying to get us to pay to cancel classes for that day. Hello morons: why are we paying to rent your crap place when you won't let us setup?! Fucking assholes. We spent a lot of time planning with Tammy Wong (our friend and owner of the
Rainbow chinese restaurant) to create an amazing menu featuring a Nobu-style miso cod. But like I said, the assholes had to get in the way of this great plan.
Instead we're having our reception at
Solera. It's not really our style but the food is good and we could afford to rent the top floor and the roof. I hated their food the first time I visited but they've made minor changes over the past year to fix their food flaws. Our cake is being made by an old baker from the old Loring, she only uses organic ingredients. We're going to have this: All American Chocolate Buttercake, 3 Square Tiers/one with Raspberry Bavarian Cream Filling/two with Hazelnut Praline Mousse Filling. Mmm.
Here's what I'm wearing. Obviously, I don't know what M is going to look like. I'd post a picture of our invitations (maybe later) because they turned out AWESOME. We had a Lunalux hookup, the result was a nice letterpressed invitation. Anyway, the wedding planning has been taking up a huge chunk of my time. I'm either working on it, thinking about plans, or stressing out over them. Maybe I don't write about wedding plans on here that much because when I stumble across other people talking non-stop about this topic I quickly punt them off my friend's list. There are a million other details that I've neglected to write about, and I'm sure there's another million things we have yet to do before the wedding. Which leaves us 19 days. I can't wait for my bachelor party -- I need a break.
