[for dean (and others)]: he was a man mourning tomorrow

Ruby's here.

That's about as far as Sam's thoughts keep getting before they circle back around to just that. She's here, and there's too little he can do about it. Can't kill her without the knife or the Colt. Can't exorcise her, apparently. Can probably cause some pain but in the end-

He hoped (stupidly) that maybe this was some kind of mercy, some kind of breathing space, after everything - things haven't been great, but they've been a whole lot worse, and recently. Stupid. Stupid stupid stupid, should have been preparing for this or something like, should have-

As soon as he gets out of the room, away from Ruby, not quite shaking (from anger, from something else) only because he's clamped down thoroughly on everything (especially the rage, especially the panic everything's going to go wrong again) and currently has an expression so severely blank it's almost unnerving.

Looking for his brother. Dean has to know, if he doesn't already. He can't. (Do this alone? Weak. What can she do now? Nothing. Not like she can make this any worse than he already did, not even like he can blame her, wasn't even-)

Keep it together. Keep it fucking together.

ooc: mainly for Dean! because yay. But anyone else who is concerned or not-concerned can feel free to tag in. :D?

should start tagging my posts
