Captains log,                Stardate:60794.8

Today before I got into the shower I had one of my usual pondering morning thoughts. What would Carrie Bradshaw (sex and the city) say if she was given a math question? Her character on the show has some of the most insightful thoughts on love and relationships. With that said,  I would give her a math question that can symbolically relate to her area of expertise, 1+1. I imagine this is how it would go:

When given 1+1, I wonder what + means. Does it come with the strings attached? Does it take 1 and 1  to the next level of 2? And what does it mean when  1+1 doesn't equal 2? What could be next? And what If one of the 1's isn't really a whole? Maybe its keeping its whole value hidden because it has gone though enough bad equations? How can + assume that the equation would naturally go to 2?
When it comes to equations I think it is safer to just let the equation be what it wants to be, 1+1 may equal 2. But it may also equal  1 1/2, 3, 4, or still just 1.  My philosophy on math is just this, lets both be a 1 and not let + make us 2.
