Ok, so my little brother Andrew is in the hospital. My family found out a few days ago that he has Crohns Disease, which is a chronic problem he will have to deal with his whole life. It is not as terrible as having cancer, but is basically a step or two down on the holy fucking shit this sucks ladder.
I already bought him some cds and burned him some more, but he is being told that he might have to stay in the hospital for upwards of another week on top of the week and a half he has already been there. I want to send him more music to listen to, so I am looking for advice on which cds he should have according to the following criteria:
-cds should be classic goodness that most people with taste would want in their collection
-Andrew has had limited musical influence outside of his high school pop-listening teeny-bopper friends, so the point is to branch him out slowly. I'm thinking mostly rock and expanding from there, so please no suggestions like Sheet One or Kompakt stuff, Massive Attack, really obscure indie, ect.
-music can be "brooding" but not "I want to die"
Basically, what would a 17 year old boy want to listen to while being super sad and in pain in the hospital?
ready set go...
