At least, not for me it isn't. I'm rather certain I got an A in my Brit Lit class thanks especially to all the extra credit I got on so many of the weakly assignments. Some of the assignments at the latter end weren't all that great, but they were fine, and they didn't hurt my over-all grade. I'm glad I took the course because it helped me with the early part of the century. Now I gotta figure out the later part.
As for my Directed Reading, I had to take an Incomplete. On my Annotated Bibliography, even though I worked as relentlessly as I could, I only got up to the D entries. I feel confident that I've learned what I needed to learn, and that makes me feel better. Still, there's a bunch of writing to do, and some reading as well.
As a matter of fact, here are all the things I need to get done over Christmas Break:
--Finish Directed Reading (read all the articles, finish compiling Annotated Bibliography, write essay)
--Revise Adaptive Technology Research
--Figure Out What I'm Doing in the Classroom This Upcoming Semester (Write Syllabus/Schedule)
--Get DSQ Article(s) Written and/or Revised
--Study for Brit Lit Prelim
So, yeah, my hands are full. I might be saying, "Break? What break?" By the way, you guys who are teachers, do you know any websites that offer icebreakers and games and fun composition assignments? I was going to copy from this book I found in the library four years ago, but it's gone now. It's not even in the catelogue anymore; I guess they sold it. I know I have some, but it's always good to have as many as you can, you know. I think in light of all the Disability Studies I've been doing, I'm going to make my theme "What is Normal?" I'm thinking that I'll challenge them to consider this topic through disability from the readings I assign, but I'll allow them to pursue another topic (race, gender, etc.) in their writings if they want to. We'll see how it goes.
As far as I can tell, my co-writer on the FFVII fic has abandoned me. I haven't heard back from her for a while, and I saw on her profile that she has decided to become just a reader of fan fiction from now on. I wish a little bit that she discussed with me her plans. The last I heard from her, she was still planning on writing me a chapter. I'll probably give her until Christmas, and if I don't hear from her I might just try to find somebody else or try to figure it out on my own. I started writing a Heroes fic again. I'm taking a bit of a chance with the canon, though. I used to distance the time frame so it might stay canon, but this time I'm actually placing my characters in the events of this season, and I'm doing a "Fringe" crossover. I had some ideas playing around that I talked about before, but I think I really seriously decided to write again after this week's episode. They had so many opportunities to bring Claude back, and they didn't. I thought up a scenario that put Gabriel in so that we could see what Claude was doing.
I got all my Christmas shopping done today. In this rough economy, I just decided to get everything at my favorite Used Media store. I was sure I would find something for everybody there. I did, but it was a little harder than I expected. In fact, I got about the same thing for my Mom and both of my sisters. I thought I'd never find something for Dad, and what I ended up getting I'm still not too sure about. I found something good for my brother-in-law, but I was lucky I found it. So many stuff I was hoping to find wasn't there. I guess you take those kind of risks shopping at a used material store. The good news is I was able to sell back some books and with the store credit, I only paid a little over $12 for everybody.
I took my bike in to the local bike shop just before I left. The price to fix everything was pretty steep, a little over $100, but it was cheaper than the place I got it. I didn't order the three speed yet because they didn't really have it on hand, and since it is rather expensive I decided to wait. I'm just lucky that they can get it so quick.
It looks like I'm gonna have to get a new rock tumber. The one I have, when you come down to it, it's just plastic. It kept getting hole and leaking and making a big mess. I bought some sealant and tried to fix it, but it just kept leaking. I thought about somehow contacting the company and asking if I could get a replacement barrel, but then I saw on amazon.com that the makers of the same rock tumbler aren't the greatest at customer service. Mom suggested I try to get one that's a bit more mature and set up for what I want to do. And I defintely want to get another one sometime; I just bought a bunch of grit. I wonder if I go on ebay and try to buy one if I could sell the base for the other one. 'Cause I gotta do something about that too; it would be a shame to just throw it out. I guess I'll think about it.
