So today was the first day of classes for Winter Quarter...and so far I fear this will be the most boring quarter ever. My American Presidency teacher is sucking all the life out of what could be a really interesting class and my Earth's Landscape teacher is pandering way too much to the fact that most people in the class aren't Geography majors. And that latter one pisses me off so much. He's making the class all about Global Warming which, yes, is interesting, but really isn't about the Earth's LANDscape, it's about its atmosphere and pollution's effects. Ugh I hate how DePaul forces people into random classes to fulfill requirements. It's not fair to the people who feel passionate about the subject matter. I'm so sick of being in non-300 level Poli Sci and Geo classes simply for that reason; I'm sick of people rolling their eyes when we get into heated discussion, I'm sick of the strange looks I get for knowing the capital of Indonesia (the most populous muslim country on Earth), and I'm sick of people not having any opinions.
Granted, I am the only Geo major in the class (how this is possible in a Geography class is beyond me), but still, I feel like I'm getting cheated out of what could be one of the few straight up geography classes because no one has a clue what the lithosphere is or where the jet stream goes. In class today I felt exactly like I did in Geology in High School: like I was the smartest person in the room...which is not good. It makes me get really irritated with everything/everyone and want to leave in a hough.
But I guess I should be glad that I should be guaranteed an A...even if it means countless Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays of sheer boredom and copious amounts of caffeine.
