Wow, this one is painful now... my brother is proposing to his girlfriend in a couple weeks. Ahhh he's too young! :/

The Box

Bradley and 4th street-he lingers
at the plexi-black bus stop,
sheltered from the gray mist
with the lump dark and heavy in his pocket.

She drifts into him by way of city fog.
He’s anchored to the street corner,
where the lamp catches glints
of mist clinging to her face.

He presents the box to her, keeping her
close with his hand clasping hers.
He feels the diamond like a stone in his shoe
while they trace squares around the block.

They pause before closed shop windows.
She admires the mirrored couple
while he notices the pasty mannequins
staring at a place they’ll never reach.
