Name: Aerith Gainsborough (Faremis - Her father's last name)
Game: Final Fantasy VII
Point in Canon: After her death in FFVII, but before Advent Children.
History/Background: Aerith Gainsborough was born on February 7 at Icicle Inn to a man named Gast Faremis and his wife, Ifalna Faremis. Before the two ever met, Gast was one of the top leading scientists at ShinRa's Science Department and one of the few people that knew about "Jenova and the Ancients project", while Ifalna was the last remaining Cetra/Ancient left on the planet. Professor Gast left the project because he wanted to know more about the forgotten civilization, so on his journey: Gast met Ifalna, the two worked together, they fell in love, and Aerith was born. Twenty days after her birth, Professor Hojo, one of Gast's co-workers, found the couple's hideout; unfortunately, Gast was killed while Ifalna was kidnapped with baby Aerith. For seven full years, Ifalna and Aerith were experimented on until the two escaped from the ShinRa Labs, but Ifalna was shot in the process. Luckily, Ifalna used her last bit of strength to take Aerith to the train station at the Slums of Midgar and stayed there, in hopes, that anyone would appear. Only one person arrived to the train station - Elmyra Gainsborough. At seeing the middle age woman, Ifalna asked her to take care of Aerith and protect her from ShinRa before she returned to the Lifestream, so the two began to live together at Sector 5.
For a whole year, Aerith lived happily with Elmyra even if she lived a poor life, but she was happy to be with her. It was on Aerith's eighth birthday that her cetran powers had awaken, so she was able to hear the voices of nature and from the Lifestream. The voices frighten Aerith and she began to hate her heritage because she wanted to be a normal girl more than anything. On that very year, a turk named Tseng came to the small house at Sector Five where he asked Aerith to return to ShinRa, but she refused.
A few years later, Aerith found the flowers at the old abandoned church, so she began to take care of the them. Slowly she began to feel attached to the flowers, she took a few flowers home to grow a garden close by because flowers were very rare to find in Midgar. Aerith continued to care for the flowers until the day that she met Zack Fair. The raven haired SOLDIER had fallen from the hole at the ceiling and landed on her garden, so she helped him wake up. Once Zack was awake, she was a bit weary of him especially when he asked her on a date, but she couldn't help feel attached to him. She offered to help Zack return to the above sections, so the two headed towards the market. At the market, Zack's wallet was stolen and she had to help him catch the boy that stole it from him. Once the boy was found, he explained his reasons for stealing Zack's wallet because a monster ate his own. Zack offered to fight the monster and returned the wallet which helped not only gain the trust of the locals, but Aerith's too. Zack bought Aerith her signature pink ribbon and went on a small date before he returned to Shinra. After meeting Zack, Aerith would stay at the church longer than usual because she wanted to see him, again. Zack came whenever he could which made her very happy because they always had fun together. Zack would always tell her stories about his travels across the planet. They continued their relationship until it became romantic between them - he became her first love within a year.
The last time that Aerith had heard news from Zack was on his Nibelheim mission where he promised that he would return, so she waited for him. For five years, Aerith continued to wait for Zack by taking care of her flowers, selling them, sending him letters, and patiently waiting for any news about him. After Aerith sent the experiment, that was living in her church, with her final letter to Zack, she sensed Zack's energy, but she didn't know if Zack was killed or not. She only knew that Zack was in trouble because the planet gave her a sign - rain.
A few weeks after Aerith had sensed Zack, another man had fallen from the sky, again. After waking him up (just like she did for Zack), the young man with blond hair whom wearing the same uniform as her first love has introduced himself as Cloud Strife. Their meeting was cut short by Reno, one of the turks, came to the church to kidnap Aerith. She asked Cloud to be her bodyguard in exchange for one date, so the two escaped from him by using the roof of the church. Aerith and Cloud headed towards the park and had the chance to get to know one another until they saw Tifa inside a carriage being taken to Wall Market. The two needed to save Tifa by cross-dressing Cloud as a girl, so they could enter into Don Corneo's mansion. A lot of events happened after saving Tifa - Sector 7 was destroyed, Tseng kidnapped Aerith, she was almost forced to procreate with Red XIII, and finally escaped Shinra with the members of AVALANCHE. The group traveled from town to town, so they could stop Sephiroth from destroying the world. In every town, the group learned more about Sephiroth's plans, Jenova, and the Ancients/Cetra. More people joined their group like Caith Sith, Yuffie, and Vincent. After Cloud gave the black materia to Sephiroth, Aerith decided that it was time to pray for Holy at the Forgotten City, so she came to Cloud in a dream with a promise that she will return.
Unfortunately, she lost her life by Sephiroth's hands at the Forgotten City because she was trying to summon the world's last hope to stop Meteor - Holy.
Personality: Aerith is known as the optimistic, sweet, and cheerful one of the group. She's always believed that her life shouldn't affect her personality nor should it affect other people's personalities, either. There is only one thing that she has learned from her life - to be optimistic. She's always believed that being able to see the bright side of a problem can help find a solution to the problem easier instead of getting depressed over it. The first impression that others have about Aerith is a shy, caring, and damsel in distress type personality, but she isn't like that. Aerith is a strong willed, helpful, sweet, determined, and clever young women that can take care of herself. Sometimes she can be very stubborn especially if anyone over-protects her, but she does know her limits. Aerith is very patient and rarely loses her temper and will always try her best to cheer up the group. Aerith can be mystery because she isn't the type to talk about her true feelings about an issue unless she feels comfortable around that very person. Usually one cannot tell if Aerith ever gets sad because she always has a smile on her lips even in the darkest moments.
Aerith is very playful and enjoys to tease her friends especially when one of them blush (like Cloud). She can be very flirtatious with her teasing, but she will stop if asked. There are times that Aerith can be selfish, stubborn, and blunt because she doesn't want to be left behind by anyone. Whenever she's stubborn, then it's extremely difficult to change her mind on a idea because she will argue about it until she wins the fight. Aerith mostly acts on emotions more than anything, so she is quite impulsive. She will act first, then think about the situation later. Whenever there is a problem, Aerith won't express her true feelings because she doesn't want to worry others. Aerith bottles up most of her emotions and keeps them hidden in her heart, so she can flash her fake smiles to ease the group's worries. Aerith can be quiet intuitive about the feelings of other people, so she tries her best to help cheer up those around her. Whenever she's in a new town/city, then she will get curious and start to explore the area even if it is dangerous. She has confidence in her abilities as a healer and in herself; even though, she can act a bit shy around others.
In conclusion, Aerith is a good girl with a good heart because she would sacrifice her very life to save another. She values life and believes to enjoy it as much as possible, so she doesn't take lightly to people that try to take their own life or the life of others. The flower girl is known to be quite naive; even though, she is a mature women with a special view on life. Sometimes she can be very trusting and is easy to forgive others because she believes that every person has good in his/her hearts.
First-Person Sample: Where am I? This place looks nice, but it isn't the Lifestream. I remember circling around the planet while keeping an eye on my friends, so I could try to protect them. Unfortunately someone was blocking me from communicating with them especially Cloud. I wanted to talk to him more than anyone else....I felt his pain, guilt, and hate. I didn't want to die in front of him. I wasn't expecting to see him there. My fate was to protect the planet as the last Ancient even if I had to sacrifice my life.
Death isn't the end, but the beginning.
Yes, Cloud defeated Sephiroth, but the planet will still be in danger because of Meteor. I had to sacrifice my life, so I can summon Holy. I remember Cloud defeating Sephiroth while I stopped Meteor with the help of Holy and the souls of the Lifestream.
I wonder if everyone is safe back home....
Will I ever return?
I hope so, but I don't mind staying here. Maybe I could fill this world full of flowers! Tee hee hee...looks like, I have a second chance to make that dream come true.
Third-Person Sample: Aerith continued to giggle at Lightning's reaction because she couldn't help find it a bit cute. Then again, her reaction reminded her of Cloud, so maybe that's the reason behind her finding it cute. When Lightning gave her the last 5 gil, the flower girl gave her smile while softly shaking her free hand side to side, "Don't worry about it." The flower girl wasn't bothered or irritated by the simple mistake, for no one should get mad over small things like that. Or at least, Aerith thought so.
Putting away the gil into one of the red jacket's poket, Aerith turned to Lightning when she heard her next question, but she couldn't help giggle at how the question was sounding. The flower girl knew that Lightning wasn't really flirting with her, but she couldn't help want to have some fun with her. It's been a while since Aerith has ever teased anyone. How long has it been since she came back to life? Far too long would have been the answer.

I was just teasing you, silly~" Then tilting her head a bit, she answered her earlier question, "I'm sorry, but I've never seen you before. Maybe you have me confused for somebody else?" Then hearing about her having a boyfriend, Aerith couldn't help give her a fake smile since her mind started to wonder about a certain one that she had a few years ago that just dissapeared from her life. "It must be nice to have a boyfriend....especially one that really loves you...." Aerith turned from Lightning and began to pretend that she was counting her flowers, but she was trying to calm the urge to cry or break down in front of her. Whenever she thought about that man, Aerith would cry about it a bit because it felt like yesterday that he fell from the sky and landed on her flowers at the church.
Realizing her limit, Aerith turned to the young women with her gaze on the ground, "I'm sure your boyfriend is waiting for you, so....I better be going. I hope you enjoy the flowers." And with that she turned to her flower wagon and began to push it, but a wheel broke off. Forcing her to stop moving. "Oh no," said Aerith looked at the wagon with a small frown on her lips. She sadly muttered to herself, "This was the last wagon that he ever build for me...." The flower girl wanted to fix it, but she didn't know anything about fixing wagons, so she began to wonder how she's going to take the flowers back to the church.
