Well the Great Adventure trip with my juniors went well enough. It was pouring all day, cold, windy and nasty. I ache worse than I do when I come home from Nocturne.
They were all well behaved- cleaned up after themselves in the pavillon and stuff so that was good. One small incident involving a student and his girlfriend from another school taking a Pasadena. They were located much to their chagrin by park security.
The ride back was silent they all slept and so did I. My feet are so cold even after the hot bath. Good times. All the parents got their spawn on time and we got the hell out of school by 5.45.
While we are there- I nearly stabbed one of my co-workers. Seriously. Myself and the other coordinator made the call we go at 3. Yes it is rainy and crappy but they are having fun and they paid 40 dollars to be here. Let's try to get their money's worth. I make said announcement to students while they eat and then it happens....
"NO. WE ARE GOING HOME AT 2."
I blink. They kids get quiet. See who said small woodland creatures don't have the good sense to fear trouble? I look at the teacher that said it. I won't call her out in front of the kids- it is unprofessional, and rude and I won't lower myself.
She says it again
"2 PM AT THE FOUNTAIN!!!"
I blink again and use my quiet voice
"No (Mrs. (Name) ) we made the call for 3. 3pm kids, have a good day. "
And they all bolt for the rides again- lunch done.
I was going to let it drop but the woman followed me and said "I made a decision" and at this point- no kids around- I took off the gloves. It boiled down to this: You=unprofessional in this instance for saying that, don't undermine me with my class, i really apprecate you being here and i know itis crappy and rainy but what can I do about that, and i know you wouldnt have chosen to come- I cannot help who our principal assigns.
She blinks. Then walks away.
I really wanted to stab her.
