Character Information
Basics
Name: William "The Bloody" Pratt AKA, Spike.
LJ screen name:
pratt_william AIM screen name: bloodandspikes
Series: BtVS and then Angel.
Requested Character: No.
Gender: Male.
Age: Around 150 years old, though he says he's older.
Species: Vampire.
Side: Evil.
Powers/Advantages: Spike can run faster, jump higher, climb quicker, and fight better than any human. He can move faster than the human eye can see, and he's stronger than ten human males at least. When he switches into his demon face, he's even stronger. The demon makes him primal, which is the side of himself that he likes best. He doesn't have to breathe, or eat and his heart doesn't beat either. He's extremely good at hand-to-hand combat and various fighting techniques including but not limited to Jeet Kune Do, karate, kung fu and drunken boxing. He makes use of not only swords, axes and knives but staffs as well. If he receives a grievous wound, a certain amount of blood (and in some cases, a particular type) will heal him. For example, if he lost a leg and wanted to reattach it and not have the resulting wound heal to a scar, it would behoove him to attain the blood of his sire. (Or any other vampire of his family who is older than him.)
As a note, Spike is not a regular vampire. He comes from a line of very powerful vampires that extends back to the Master, a vampire who was at least 900 years old before he was killed. On top of that, Spike has killed two vampire slayers and drank their blood, and consumed the blood of an angel. He is considered to be on par with the Master, vampires like Dracula and the Prince of Lies (Nosferatu) and his very own Grandsire Angelus, who was once known as the Scourge of Europe.
This makes him a little bit higher up on the food chain than your average half-demon vamp. He also has a very large capacity for loving and forgiveness, honor and loyalty, despite his utter lack of a soul. This can be considered a strength as much as it can be considered a weakness.
Weaknesses/Disadvantages: Sunlight can and will kill him, if he stays out in it long enough. This isn't a weakness he bows down to, as one can often see him running about during the day under a blanket or even driving a car provided that the windows have been blocked out. However, sunlight does set him on fire and burn him to ash.
He's also susceptible to religious artifacts (including holy water) burning his skin and causing him extreme pain; walking into a church gives him the willies. A wooden stake to the heart or the removal of his head will kill him.
Spike is very... careless. Reckless. He will launch himself into battle without a second thought to himself or his life (or unlife, as he so affectionately calls it), and will fight to the death. This recklessness is a big weakness, considering that he doesn't exactly think about what will happen or if his opponent happens to be stronger.
As another note, Spike needs blood to survive. Any blood will do really, but he likes human best. Of course. If Spike doesn't feed for a few straight consecutive days, he will get extremely weak. If one starved him, he could get beyond the point of having any strength left in his body at all. He would become corpse-like and would require someone to nurse him back to health.
City Life
Occupation: Mostly Spike steals what he needs, but for an extra spot of violence he's picked up a job as a bouncer at various rowdy bars around the city and the money helps him splurge on cigarettes, alcohol and Weetabix. Oh, and rent. That's right, Spike lives in an apartment this time around. A hole in the wall apartment, but a genuine apartment nonetheless.
Residing Quadrant: North.

Brief History: Born in 1860, William Pratt was turned into a vampire when he was 20 years old, by the love of his very long life, Drusilla. Not knowing it at the time, William was entering one of the most notorious vampire families in history. Headed by Darla, his Great Grandsire, and followed by Angelus, his Grandsire, the family rounded off with Drusilla as his Sire and he as the fledgling that Angelus lovingly (and brutally) taught and molded in the arts of torture, sadism, murder and abuse. Let's just say that the only person that William has ever submitted to in his entire life is Angelus.
Under Angelus's tutelage, he quickly developed his own dark streak of sadism, and earned the name that he has taken for 145 years, Spike. His Grandsire never did like the nickname much, but did appreciate how he got it. He has killed two Slayers in his lifetime and proudly boasts about it. Just after failing to kill Buffy Summers, Spike made his way to the city, something strange drawing him there.
While in the city, he fell in love. Twice, actually. Once with a boy, a dangerously addictive relationship that depended upon blood and bonds and the delicate matter of rebuilding a soul. The other love he had proved stronger, and he tore himself out of his addiction to the boy for a girl demon. A half-demon princess really, the granddaughter of Lucifer himself, an angel slayer. The separation from the boy wounded Spike deeply however, more than he thought it did, especially because of what happened after; the breaking of the blood bonding served to wreck what little soul the boy had been able to rebuild. Guilt overtook Spike, as well as withdrawal from the child's blood and in healing he grew distant from his princess.
Toward the end of March, the distance became a gulf that couldn't be repaired and Spike decided to end things with Branwen. The fight that followed was something for history books. In fact, Spike barely got out of town with his life intact. Anyone observing the cemetery that night would have noticed the mausoleum he was staying in being blown apart. They would've noticed the fires and the yells of a very loud argument coming from that part of the cemetery. Spike was left bloodied and bruised at the end of the fight, much in the same way that he left Branwen. He escaped by the skin of his teeth and disappeared first from the city and then from the United States altogether.
After spending a few months traveling Europe and regaining his old self, he's finally made his way back to the city. Maybe he can figure out the mystery of the place this time, without making the mistake of developing emotional ties or contacts. (Which is a fat chance. Please. This is William the Bloody Awful Poet we're talking about.)
