Rain and Updates.

The incessant rains can paralyse normal routine. After the first monsoon showers that occured almost a fortnight ago, people waited for rains. Cribbed about the humidity and heat. And now the rains have started. Five days of continuous rain that almost drove Mumbai to a near-halt. And now people are praying for the rains to stop. Roads are deserted, it makes you feel as though a curfew has been imposed in Mumbai.

MET departments predicts heavy rains and the rains stop! Bah! So much for their predictions. Its a light shower since morning and I hope it stays that way.

Yesterday, areas outside my workplace were rumoured to be under almost 2 feet of water. Further away, houses were rumoured to be submerged. Television channels are sometimes flashing pics of last year and causing more panic among people who are not in Mumbai. I am bombarded with at least a dozen calls from in-laws and relatives asking me and J to get back home.

J got back early both the days and that was a relief. I, at least did not worry where he was, unlike the harrowing time I had the last year. This year we are extra careful. Cells are always on charge. Enough supply of food is at home. Enough supply of candles, batteries and torches.

As patrodz put it, the weather is perfect to sit by the window and have some rum and coke and enjoy soothing music. Well, I'd personally prefer a mug of hot coffee laced with a bit of brandy and book to read.

And in other news, I am making a quick buck betting on the matches. The stakes are low and my betting partner is J. He has shelled out 500 bucks so far. The football matches are turning out to be upsetters, but I am enjoying it! As for the World Cup, my bet is on Portugal. I wish them luck!

And keeping in mind, the World Cup, my latest crushes are Kaka and Ballack, and many more, unforunately I do not remember the names.
