China's CD. Oh my god.
I fucking love Yuki Kaida's voice. She doesn't try and force it into a male range for her part as China, which means that it's not awkward and forced-low like Romi Park when she does Switzerland. The instrumentation is absolutely beautiful, especially in "Aiyah! 4000 Years" (this is supposedly how it's translated). It's very intense and powerful, and it just MOVES amazingly well. I don't know how the song translates yet, but something tells me it's one of the very few serious songs in the whole series. The feel of it is just too much for it to be silly. It was written for Kaida's voice, which just makes it absolutely amazing.
Now. "Ni Hao! Chugoku!" is a lot of fun to listen to. It's just FUN. I love the traditional instruments used in such a silly, fun song (I can pick out the phrase "Shanghai something no kani," which tells me it's about crabs). I love love LOVE the harmony in it so much. The whole thing just WORKS, and it's amazing. Yes, it's very stereotypically "Chinese," but that doesn't make it any less fun to listen to or sing along to.
Killian is going to go fag over these some more, brb.
