That's an understatement. I've been busy this week, like most, but not totally frazzled. :) We had our Biblical Counceling Conference at church all week and I worked our Resource Center Monday and Thursday. Like a dope, I stayed up Tuesday night well into Wednesday morning and then had a short sleep and then off to work. The funny thing is, I was planning on coming home Wednesday and crashing, but I had a list of things I needed to discuss with our "client," my other boss. I was at work until just before 7 pm. He's full of sarcasm and loves to tease, so parts of our conversation went like this:
Boss: Okay, you're made me stay here until 7, what do you want?
Me: I just want to discuss this ever growing list with you and get this stuff but to bed.
At this point we go over some "security" issues in which I get some answers for, and then it's on to the budget.
Me: So, I know I've brought this up before, but what is the outcome looking like for me to take some more classes.
Boss: I don't know, I sent you to classes last you and you still haven't secured this place. Why would I want to send you to more. *pause* Well, when are they and what are they?
Me: I explain.
Boss: Well, print me up what they're about, and what benefit you would receive from them and giving to me.
At this point we're winding down the conversation and he's still giving me a hard time.
Me: Well, is there anything you need to discuss, I've gone through my list.
Boss: No
Me: So, I'm I done giving you hell for the day?
Boss: Man, I hope so.
I start walking down the hall and he hollers at me.
Boss: Mindy!
Me: Yes?
Boss: I don't expect much, just perfection
Me: I give him the thumbs up.
Boss: Just perfection.
Me: You got it! No problem.
So, at this point in time, I'm going to my car, getting in and have left work. I call my dad, and then my phone beeps......guess who it is. LOL So, I had to hang up with my dad and answered the phone, this is how this conversation went.
Boss: And one more thing, when are you going to get a degree? I mean what if I get P***ed off and tell your company I don't want you back on the property, What if this company closes it's doors, what are you going to do then. Crap, I pay you more than my two engineers and they have degrees. I wouldn't want you to learn all of this and do all the things you're doing and have nothing to show for it if something comes up.
Me: Of course for a brief second you think...what's he REALLY saying....and then I'm like. I've been looking I've got some feelers out.
Boss: What the hell are feelers?
Me: I explain and then he pushes the issue again.
So, I'm at a crossroads here. There is validity in what he's saying, and I know this. So, Tom and I have talked just briefly before bed, and the biggest concern, how are we going to afford it. I have a headache and was too tired from the week to want to continue the conversation in a manner in which I wasn't letting my frustration get the better of me. I have yet to finish the conversation with him about grants, scholarships and the like. So, I'll pray about it, look at our options and trust the Lord. It's not like I have not been totally content with my job, it's just that their are some valid truths to what we talked about. Well, that's enough writing for now, I have to get rid of this headache before it puts me out for the day.
