virgin no more
I've completely gone off the Virgin brand.
See, thing is, the whole point of the Virgin Brand is not that they are selling anything new, better or even cheaper. But they market their products with shinier packaging and make it more attractive and hip. The ethos of Virgin is "Buy me and you can be cool!"
So I gave in. I bought a case of wine from Virgin Wines. The case was a mixed reds case of recommended by Virgin. Sadly, every single bottle in the case tasted like a £3 plonker. Certainly not like what I could expect for an £8 bottle of wine.
And then I signed up for the Virgin Credit Card. Sadly, their customer service is shit. While we were in Oz, Joe's Virgin card got stolen. So we called to have them replace it. Although I am the primary account holder, they are unable to cancel just Joe's card. So mine gets cancelled as well. And then to top it off, their system will allow only 2 delivery methods for the new cards. I can either have them sent to my home address via Royal mail, free of charge, to be received within 10 working days or I can have them overnighted to me in Australia for the sum of £35. But they most certianly can't send the card via standard mail to Australia. That's not allowed! Whatever. Despite the fact that this is a huge inconvienence for me, I refuse to pay for a new card.
So then, lets speak about Virgin Atlantic airlines.
The main problem I have with Virgin Atlantic is that they market themselves as an amazing airline. They are not budget, but they are defintely not expensive. The thing is, they have spent tons of money doing things like putting chrome on the handles of the overhead bins and putting random disco balls int he first class lounge. But, the food is still shit and the amount of legroom between seats is the least amount of any airplane I have ever ridden on. So what if I have 51 movies to choose from if I loose all feeling in my legs when the person in front of me puts their seat back.
And their service is complete shit. They build a reputation on having young, sexy stewrdesses in great outfits, but they are damn kids with no professionalism and no experience. Personally, I travel to damn often to want to be served by kids.
So basically, I'm blanket boycotting Virgin. They suck.
