Go Watch it. I've always loved Micheal Mann movies - three of my all time favs are his (Heat, Ali, Collateral) and Miami Vice is just as good. The man can direct - grainy camera work, geting right up next to the shooter, slowing down or speeding up at the right moments, showing conventional things in unconventional ways. The plot works pretty well, the dialouge is pretty decent and the action and sex are both intense. Theres 3 or 4 scenes that really stand out. The Sex scenes are the most realistic I've ever seen - they seem to show the intimacy, the heat and even the humor of lovemaking without any gratitous nudity. Beautifully shot. And the actions scenes blow you away - Heat to a certain extent was action driven, and so was Collateral but Vice blows them both away. Theres a scene where the protaginists are sprining a hostage from a trailer park - absolutely glorious. Without giving too much away its Jamie Foxx at his acting best - and of course the best line of the movie delivered perfectly by Elizabeth Rodriguez. Jamie Foxx was solid, Colin Farell was average but the rest of the actors were all superb - especially the drug Kingpin - you can almost feel the evilness of the man - his eyes seem completely dead and he makes the line "My respects to your families" into a marked threat. Definetely my favorite movie of the summer.
