Oral.

It's a sleepy Saturday afternoon around here.

I'm still struggling with this cough, and I feel kind of worn out. I dozed most of the morning away. I think my cough syrup makes me a little drowsy.

I had a dental appointment today to get my teeth cleaned. They really needed it. The prescription mouthwash I use has a tendency to stain my teeth. Today, all that staining was removed, along with some plaque buildup I had on a couple teeth. Braces really get in the way of keeping your teeth clean. Despite my best efforts, my teeth were dirty!

On the way home, Luke fell asleep in the car. He's such a light sleeper that we often just leave him in the car to sleep. Scott's sitting in there with him. He's reading The Watchmen and probably will have a nap himself.

I'm sitting inside, listening to music, relaxing, and enjoying my clean teeth.

I really like my new dentist. She put some numbing gel on my gums before she cleaned my teeth. She's definitely the Gentle Dentist she claims to be. She's fast, too. But also really thorough.

She's suggested I get my teeth cleaned every three months while I have braces on. I think I agree with her. Especially with the staining I get from the mouthwash. I don't think I could take much more than three months worth of staining.

I probably need to get the other regions of my mouth scaled, too. She scrubbed the heck out of the roots on one portion of my mouth. I suspect she'd like to do the other sections as well.

Apparently the problems I'm having with my gums are common in orthodontic patients. The teeth move and create pockets in the gums, and grossness settles right in. She said she sees it a lot.

I just hope that in a few more months, when I'm out of braces, the problem is gone. I don't know if it will be, but I can hope!

I really want to go to the pool today. It's not too warm out, only about 85 degrees, so the water would be chilly. But it'd feel nice to lay in the sun a little while.

I didn't realize it would get cooler so fast here. I expected summer to go on a while longer, I thought I'd be at the pool a lot through September. Ah well. There's always next year.
