(no subject)
I made my first Etsy purchase this morning, silk hankies in the Broken Heart and Veggie Tales colours. I AM EXCITE, you guys, and I fully acknowledge that I'm doing it because the Yarn Harlot did it- I totally want to make myself a pair of mittens like she did, because dang. Those look gorgeous.
Of course now I want to troll Etsy and buy EVERYTHING. FOREVER.
I'm glad that I had the chance yesterday to bug Odessa about how she structures teaching her classes. I'm feeling a lot more confident about it (although that was before the whole trying to talk about adapting a pattern for a size and gauge unknown while trying to help other people near-meltdown yesterday), and just... Odessa! I want to shake pompoms and tell yesryone how awesome she is. Seriously, check out her blog and her designs and her photography and just... Odessa! Woo!
Story of how I met Odessa (and the equally awesome Cara): they came to the fiber retreat weekend we had back in October. I'd never seen them around, but they seemed pretty nice, and about my age and after the group introductions I was all "I MUST KNOW MORE" because apparently I get kind of weird and hopefully not too creepy when trying to make new friends. IDK. Honestly, they seemed a lot like my friends and I, sans the whole me randomly jumping on them and hugging them.
And then I didn't really see them much again? EXCEPT for how I totally wanted to. And then when my boss and I would talk about teaching, and expanding our classes and such, I'd be all LET'S TALK TO ODESSA!!! and idk. She seemed enthused by my enthusiasm.
(oh god, I sound like a total creeper. sorry, this rambling story is over soon.)
And then Odessa started teaching with us. She just finished her first stranded mitten class (of which I heard NOTHING BUT GOOD THINGS) and she's got some other awesome things lined up. And when she's in the shop we talk about mittens and colourwork, knitting EVERYTHING ZIMMERMAN ALL THE TIME, and where to get good googly eyes for toys and I go on about how bad I am at putting faces on toys that won't horribly scar young children. :(
Anyway. *shakes pompoms* Odessa!
